#3 the Wonders of Webquest

There are three simple, yet remarkable, aspects of the tool called Webquest that stand out to me as truly being a helpful device for teachers in today's classrooms. These aspecst are as follows:
(1). The very purpose of a webquest is to give the student opportunities to exercise higher thinking abilities and skills. In a definition, a webquest is these three things:

  • an inquiry-oriented activity

  • in which the information used by learners

  • is drawn from the Web

  • (2). The ways in which a teacher can utilize this webquest could be to introducing new ideas and concepts to the class that can grab there interest. I think that starting out a class project (such as a new section/study or term in a history class) with a webquest, can really assist students in the learning process.
(3). I think a pro to using webquests is that it can be very fact that many students are computer savvy, and enjoy learning through technology.
However, I have also considered (as a con) how challenging a webquest might be for a student who struggles to manuever technology. It may be stressful for them to learn and seek the facts and information for themselves all via a computer. On the other hand, this could be a healthy experience for these students to branch out in exploring the uses of the online world and becoming more confident in searching out answers online.
